Our Musical Director - David Woodhouse

photo of David Woodhouse David Woodhouse was born near Coventry. His vocal training began in earnest as a choral scholar then as a senior choral scholar in Coventry Cathedral Choir under David Lepine and Robert Weddle. He was educated at King Henry VIII School, Coventry and York University where he took a degree in music. During his time at York he was a member of the university's Chamber Choir which performed a wide variety of music from the 15th century onwards and undertook solo roles in operatic productions of works by Monteverdi and Weill.

After a spell of teaching in Iceland, David returned to England in 1986 to take up a music teaching post at Nottingham High School. Here he conducted the school's Chamber Choir which won prizes at various local music festivals and sang Evensong at a variety of churches and cathedrals. The choir also took part in the music department's tour of Venice, the high point being their singing during Mass at St Marks' Basilica! David relinquished his post in the summer of 2002 and moved to Trent College in order to devote more time to individual teaching and business interests.

David had a long association with the Ruddington & District Choral Society, both as an accompanist and as a soloist, before taking over as musical director in January 2008. He has also appeared as soloist with a variety of choirs and choral societies, covering a wide range of repertoire and has adjudicated at a number of local music festivals.
